La Poderosa parte 2.

The Virginia Beach Bike Classic. Stay tuned...

La Poderosa.

Along the scenic route from Richmond to Virginia Beach I had the pleasure of enjoying the beautiful array of wildflowers, interesting smells and spending time with a person that I have grown very fond of, to say the least.

The Fella and I are basking in the glorious sun by the pool of our childhood city and what a welcoming gift Virginia Beach gave us upon our arrival, the sweet smell of honeysuckles and salt water. It was all so very picturesque.

Riding on the motorcycle which I've now decided I shall call "La Poderosa," is so invigorating. Anyone who travels locally, nationally or internationally should attempt to travel driving or riding their Poderosa. The experience will leave you, speechless.

(I'll post more soon about the vacation but for now...

Gracias.

Coupon clipping.

When I had heard about TLC's new recent crazed show Extreme Couponing, I thought: well that's stupid! But when I noticed the amount of money these gals were saving at the end of their purchases I became intrigued. What was this magical world called couponing? Well it was about time that I just shut up and found out!

It isn't a great secret that I have food allergies. In fact, I have two very large but easily manageable food allergies known to the human race: a lactose intolerance and a gluten allergy. It is also a well known fact gluten-free products aren't cheap. That is why I've decided to embark on this newly found coupon planet and take a closer look at the natives.

Most of the websites, blogs or television shows I've recently seen, read or heard about (pertaining to couponing) have all said that step one is to: start out slow. Taking that advice slowly throughout the week, I gathered various coupons online from Whole Foods and Trader Joes. (I chose these groceries stores because of their vast amount of gluten-free products and because they are within a close proximity of each other.)

In total, I collected seven coupons. (Really in comparison to the extreme couponers that's nothing but remember we're starting out slow over here.) I saved a total of $10 with my overall purchases just at Whole Foods alone, which by all accounts is an accomplishment. Unfortunately, Trader Joes hadn't any coupons to offer based off of their website.

So all in all though, I felt like a Glen Allen, West End, soccer mom, I'm glad that I spent the morning (dragging the fella along with me) exploring the beautiful world of couponing, saving and purchasing food that make me feel great! Gracias!

Weekend Wriggles.

There is an ass behind me. Seriously.

Gallows. Marie Antoinette style.

Cool men hardly show their faces.

Model. Clearly a horrible one.

Okay so these pictures were actually in fact taken last weekend, when The Fella and I took a trip to one of my favorite places Maymont. But wasn't it such a gorgeous day and weekend! I'll post more of the actual weekend April 9th and 10th, soon.

Goodbye Lovlies y Gracias!

Cool listening.

Dear Lovlies,
What is on your "Cool Listening" play list? I've gathered a couple of artists and songs that I'd like y'all to listen to. I was inspired by a CD that was left in the Fella's car by one of his mechanics when his car was getting repaired. The CD was entitled (incidentally enough) Cool Listening.

The list is mainly of Sweet Jamz, I probably should have named it that instead? Oh well. I hope everyone is enjoying their week. I'm looking forward to the warm weather.

Gracias.

1. Jill Scott "He Loves Me"
2. Erykah Badu "Tyrone"
3. Janet Jackson "Any time, Any place"
4. Michael Jackson "I Can't Help It"
5. Steely Dan "Black Cow (Keep it Gansta)"
6. Mos Def "Umi Says"
7. Outkast "SpottieOttieDopaliscious"
8. Groove Theory "Tell Me"
9. Aloe Blacc "I Need a Dollar"

Like I said Sweet Jamz.

Lamplighter.

After a morning full of exercise, I found myself craving a really incredible breakfast sandwich. This is when I usually forget that Lamplighter exists and make my way to my usual stops (such as Ellwood's). It won't be a mistake again, though I am an avid customer of Ellwood Thompson's, Lamplighter to me is much more appetizing as far as food, coffee and establishments are concerned. Lamplighter is what I believe to be, one of RVA's most delicious and beautiful hidden gems.

The ambiance was truly magnificent whether it be because of the beauty of the restaurant or the 86 degree weather. I think it was both really? One complimented the other.

There are rarely any restaurants or cafés that offer gluten-free products (or at least gluten-free bread) but Lamplighter happens to be one of them. And thank goodness for that. I have never eaten anything there that I didn't enjoy or drank coffee that wasn't mouthwatering. Not to mention they sell Mexi-Cokes there as well. (I mean really? Mexi-Cokes, I dream about their tastiness on a weekly basis)

Ahh it was heaven itself! I love the charming Lamplighter gem, and everyone I know who has been there love it too. Gracias.

the things...

...you find amazing at 12 a.m...

... and sometimes this is what I think about at 12 a.m...

Pretty fly for a white girl, Linda Lyndell?

What a lovely night to do some Yoga.

I'd rather be snoring.

Brunching and straight crunching  on a gluten-free breakfast sandwich.

My outfit for tomorrow or this morning I guess I should say. Red stripes a must!

This is what I'm listening after now, midnight:

Good night or good morning if it tickles your fancy. Gracias.

Black and Yellow.

Monument Avenue 10K. Mile marker 4. Though you can't tell by the black and white photo, the runners were asked if they could wear black and yellow in support of the Final Four basketball game tonight starring our very own VCU RAMS!
As promised, I made my way to Mile marker 4 and witnessed the many lovelies running pridefully through the RVA street of Monument Avenue for the Monument Ave. 10K!

Did you know that there is and proper way to cheer runners on during a race? I did.

Here are some examples of what NOT to say to the runners in passing:
1. Almost finished.
2. Just a little bit longer.
etc...

Here are some examples of what to say throughout the race:
1. You're doing great!
2. Keep up the good work.
etc...

I became accustomed to chanting those words of encouragement much in my youth and early adulthood because of the many races my mom made. Though I didn't get the pleasure of running into my friends who ran, I enjoyed cheering on those whom I didn't know.

Gracias!

Here's what I've been listening to:
